Fall Birthdays 2008

On the weekend of October 11, 2008 a few of us got together for a little tour of some of the local breweries. Some of our birthdays fell around this date and it seemed like a good excuse to visit some of Michigan's brewmeisters.

Those celebrating birthdays were Elli (my grand daughter), Kim (my daughter), Denise and Bonnie (friends from Illinois) and the Old Geezer himself, me. We rode 9 bikes and a Jeep. All told there were 18 of us (Kim, Bonnie, Al, Denise, Mark, Laura and Mike (from Illinois), Jimmy (from Indiana), Andrea, Steve, Elli and Olivia (from Traverse City, Michigan), Charlie, Carry, Mike, Vicki and me (from South Haven, Michigan)).

The weather couldn't have been better with temperatures in the 70's and sunshine.

On Friday those that could make it had dinner at Su Casa (a Mexican restaurant... Da!) in Fennville, complete with a Mariachi band. Fun and kind of different. I for one was glad we went.

On Saturday we took our tour visiting Bell's Brewery http://www.bellsbeer.com/ in Kalamazoo, the Old Penninsula Brewery http://oldepen.com/ (were we had lunch) also in Kalamazoo, the New Holland Brewery http://www.newhollandbrew.com/ in Holland and the Saugatuck Brewery http://sbrewing.com/breweries in Saugatuck.

We ended up at Mike and Vicki's house for pizza and birthday cake for a birthday celebration. All told we rode about 135 miles and had a great day.
